The President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Alaa Al-Ali, visited His Excellency Mr. Shi Hongwei, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Syrian Arab Republic, where they discussed prospects for developing economic and trade relations between the two countries and ways to broaden joint cooperation, in the presence of the Federation's Vice President, Eng. Issam Al-Ghraiwati.
Mr. Al-Ali stressed the importance of raising the level of economic partnership with the Chinese private sector and encouraging Chinese investment in the Syrian market, pointing to the role the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce plays in supporting the private sector and advancing economic initiatives that help revitalise trade and investment activity.
For his part, Eng. Al-Ghraiwati emphasised the importance of easing visa procedures for Syrian businesspeople, which would help boost trade and investment exchange and open wider horizons for cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
The Chinese Ambassador, in turn, affirmed his country's keenness to develop bilateral relations across the various economic fields, noting the importance of the Syrian-Chinese Business Salon to be held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, as an important platform for launching a new phase of trade and investment cooperation and strengthening direct communication between economic stakeholders on both sides.
At the close of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue coordination and communication and to organise further meetings and reciprocal visits, contributing to stronger economic and investment cooperation and a firmer partnership between Syria and China, in the shared interests of the two friendly countries.
